One of the biggest challenges faced in the West Bank are the logistical constraints imposed on the territory. Nearly all imports must pass through Israeli checkpoints and ports, leading to lengthy delays in the clearance processes and unpredictable security checks which can stall shipments for weeks or even months. Additional fees and administrative burdens can also inflate overall import costs.
Furthermore, goods entering the West Bank and Gaza may be subject to marking and labeling requirements in order to prevent “leakage” back into Israel. All imports must carry labels in Arabic in addition to the original labels.
The EU has a preferential trade agreement with the West Bank and Gaza similar to that of the U.S. Generalized System of Preferences program. However, you will still need a locally registered entity to act as the IOR to ensure compliance.
